Join us for a delightful hands on wagashi making workshop with wagashi master Toshiko Sugii Steffes. Perfect for all skill levels, participants will enjoy a tasting of seasonal wagashi with a cup of Japanese sencha tea and will learn how to shape and craft their own spring inspired wagashi. Learn about the customs, tradition and symbolisn of wagashi and enjoy a delicious Yamaben organic bento box created by Chef Hiroko Yamada available to enjoy at the workshop or take home.
Toshiko Sugi Steffes
Toshiko Sugii Steffes is a Japanese wagashi (traditional sweets) designer and certified wagashi master.Trained in both classical and contemporary wagashi techniques, her work is inspired by the four seasons and the harmony between nature and art, a sensibility shared with ikebana. She has presented workshops and demonstrations for cultural institutions including Ikebana International Cleveland, Japanese Culture Center Chicago, museums, tea schools, and Japan-related organizations…
